As many of you know, The College at Brockport has been engaged in a campaign to raise $25 million for scholarships, academic programs, campus beautification and the many other enhancements that allow Brockport to offer an exceptional educational experience to our students. We are very pleased to announce we have surpassed that ambitious goal and have now raised more than $25.5 million.
Many people never dreamed we would reach this goal – let alone more than 16 months ahead of our target date. But, we're not done yet! We like to break records here at Brockport – that's part of our vision – so we will keep counting all gifts and pledges toward our campaign total until our fiscal year ends June 30, 2015. The sky is the limit!
So many have played extraordinary roles in helping the College make this unprecedented commitment toward student success. It would not be possible without our alumni and friends, who have been generous beyond belief providing scholarships and support for key College priorities. The same is true for our Faculty and Staff campaign and Emeriti and Retirees committee. You are all the true heroes of campaign, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do for Brockport.
We also want to acknowledge a special core group of people who have helped make this amazing success a reality. Our president, Dr. John R. Halstead, has made campaign one of his top priorities during his tenure at the College and has been an outstanding champion. He has devoted his time, talent and treasure, but most importantly his leadership, to take us over the top. Roxanne Johnston, our recently retired vice president for Advancement and president of the Brockport Foundation, poured her heart and soul into the success of campaign.
We couldn't have done any of this without our incredible volunteers. The Brockport Foundation Board, under the leadership first of Diane McCue for the first three years of campaign and now Joe Doody, has been with us every step of the way. The Campaign Steering Committee, led by Doody, Glenn Goldberg and McCue, has been an instrumental force by provided advice, counsel, inspiration and strategy throughout campaign. Our deans and other members of College leadership have also been supportive in so many ways. They have been asked to become major players in the philanthropic culture change at the College and have stepped up.
We will officially celebrate with the Brockport community on April 24, 2015. In the meantime, send out a cheer to all Brockport Golden Eagles on Facebook, Twitter and all of your social networks. Words cannot express how much we appreciate your dedication to Brockport and student success. None of this would have happened without you!
